Channel 4 — a UK Television channel broadcasting since 1982 — has always stoked controversy and skirted the very edges of culture and taste.
I’d lost track of the number of C4’s offsprings — which now include Film4, E4, More4, 4Music and 4seven — and the entire suite of channels has recently had a consistent rebrand applied, the results of which you can see below:
Personally I’m not hugely impressed by the resulting set of logos; while they’re far more consistent as a whole, sharper for a digital age and each have a unique secondary colour; some feel unresolved with a mixture of rounded corners (the M in More for example) and sharp edges. Not easy to look at, especially in a group.
However, the hit-and-miss rebrand aside, C4 have a thoroughly weird and wonderful set (19, I believe) of new idents at their disposal, courtesy of a variety of UK-based creatives. Take a look at the rebrand reel below —
Things get really freaky with the unseen idents from the reel above; so if you like challenging, contemporary and wtf-laugh-out-loud ident animation…. see below!
